The pallet dimensioner palletcube is a system to measure and calculate the dimensions of loaded pallets. Due to the compact design, the entire construction only has a dimension of 215 by 215 centimeters. The measuring object is placed in a defined measuring area (e.g. floor scales). After that it will be captured and measured from all sides by using the 5 integrated 3D ToF sensors. The system can either be triggered by an integrated user interface or various flexible interfaces. As an optional extension, multiple IP cameras can be mounted to the palletcube to photo document the measuring object.

The palletcube contains all hardware and electronic components required for measurement. An industrial PC with Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise IoT is also integrated. This safe kiosk mode in combination with a centralized communication thus results in a closed secured system. This significantly increases the security of the system and at the same time reduces any communication overhead.

The pallet dimensioner palletcube outlines the measuring object using the integrated ToF-Cameras. The resulting 3D-Informations will be interpreted, so the dimensions can be calculated considering the position. The entire process only takes a few seconds.

The palletcube comes with two trigger options – through a grafical user interface or an communication service for external control. Both options have a variety of flexible and customizable interfaces available e.g. SOAP, REST, SAP/RFC, etc.

The measuring area in which the measuring object must be placed is located directly below the system. The boundary can be defined in the calibration process. This enables the use of e.g. a floor scale as a measuring area.

Since the construction of the palletcube is not based on moving / mechanical components, there is no frequent nor periodical maintenance effort, e.g. Lubrication of bearings, adjustment of drive trains, etc. All palletcube components were designed exclusively for industrial use. The working temperature range is therefore perfectly designed for operation in warehouses. A reliable process can thus be guaranteed.

The maintenance-free high-end 3D ToF sensors can cover 360° of the measuring area. They operate without lasers or mechanically swiveling mirrors, but in the infrared spectrum. They are therefore not subject to any laser protection class. The sensors create several 3D images with different exposure times in a fraction of a second.

Since the base has only one reference point to the floor, there is always free passage for forklifts and other industrial trucks. The stand can be mounted with 60 cm distance to a wall. The dimensions of the system including the stand are 350 x 215 x 370cm (LxBxH). The height is variable. A minimum distance to the measuring object of only 1 meter must be guaranteed.

The ceiling mount consists of either clamping devices for beams (e.g. I-beam, T-beam or double tee ) or direct mounting devices for solid (concrete) ceilings. The mount can be flexibly adjusted in L, W, H. The devices are also freely adjustable at an inclination angle of -90 ° to 90 °. The dimensions of the system including the ceiling mount are 350 x 215 x 370cm (LxBxH). The height of the system including the ceiling bracket is variable, but at least 70cm. A minimum distance to the measuring object of only 1 meter must be guaranteed.
