Flexible and reliable label printing

The Roman Mayer Logistik Group, Augsburg, relies on the HVS32 shipping system from Heidler Strichcode GmbH, Wolfschlugen, for its logistical operating processes. The HVS32 software ensures smooth operations during label printing. The reduction of manual work steps ensures fewer sources of error and saves not only time but also costs.

The Roman Mayer Logistik Group is a medium-sized, family-run logistics company consisting of a total of 17 companies at 30 different locations in Germany and abroad, including France, Spain and China. Since 1969, the company, which today employs over 1,300 people, has proven itself in the areas of distribution, transport, contract logistics, consulting and packaging management.

In large warehouses, the logistical operating processes must be time-saving and transparent, because only in this way can shipping be handled optimally. The performance strength of Roman Mayer Logistik Group is based on experience, coupled with a spirit of innovation as well as continuous growth. For example, a new warehouse was built for a major customer in the cosmetics sector. For outgoing goods logistics, the IT was also reorganized in the process.

Transparent solution

For an effective, trouble-free label printing of several thousand pieces per day, the logistics company was looking for a transparent solution and turned to the specialists of Heidler Strichcode from Baden-Württemberg: The shipping system HVS32 had been known to the logistics service provider for years, as it was already pre-installed in one of its warehouses. The knowledge of the software and the price-performance ratio of the solution were ultimately decisive for the award of the contract. “In addition, it was important to us that one could use different carriers and the solution is server-based, so you don’t have to install a client on every computer to work with the program,” says Matthias Mayer, IT Manager at Roman Mayer Group. “Ultimately, the positive experiences with the system also contributed to the decision to use it in the new hall.”

Capture, weigh, print

With the HVS32, a package is automatically weighed after the delivery note number is recorded and then the label is printed with all carrier-relevant information. Carriers can be freely selected and communication with the respective ERP system runs smoothly thanks to custom-fit interfaces. Manual steps are reduced, so that the software increases efficiency in shipping. “Everything runs smoothly,” Mayer sums up. “Our wish for efficient and cost-effective processing or shipping logistics has been fulfilled.”

Roman Mayer Logistik Group uses the HVS32 shipping system with the modules Data Gateway Server, HVS32Service (for exchanging status data), Monitoring Service and modules for six different carriers. About 20 employees use the system at two different locations for the entire shipping process, and the connection of additional locations is already being planned. “The self-explanatory operation of the software also speaks in favor of this,” adds Matthias Mayer. The logistics of the program are easy to understand, he says, so that users can intervene themselves when necessary. And if, for example, a carrier changes its file transfer requirements, a solution is quickly found together with Heidler. Matthias Mayer is also satisfied with the support: “The paths are short. You simply notice that you are not working with a huge corporation where inquiries are passed on from department to department. The contact is personal, our questions are answered quickly and new requirements are implemented”.
